Happy Earth Day! Tomáš Gabzdil Libertíny’s vase was produced by a colony of 40,000 bees in 1 week. The process poetically brings a natural phenomenon full circle, starting with flowers, which nourish bees and enabled them to produce the vase, and ending with a vessel to contain flowers.

Some days you save people, you code them and bring them back from death. Sometimes you change your patients life, or hand them a brand new baby. Or let them know that they will die, and then help them say goodbye. Some days you are a superhero, a warrior in white, a steady hand and a calm voice.
And some days you have to educate a full grown adult on why applying Purell to a freshly shaved vagina is a terrible idea……Welcome to Nursing. Just remember you paid thousands of dollars to a college for this job.

We learn to tolerate the physical pain. You have to. But it’s the overwhelming emotional burden that makes you feel like someone is holding your head down in the water. You can fight it, but you can never overcome that crushing feeling. How are you supposed to get rid of an emotional suffocation when the source of it is never going to go away?
Being sick is being stuck in the eternal clutch of the unknown. Any day anything could go wrong, or at least more wrong than it already has. It’s so hard not to feel anxious or depressed or completely lost when all that lies ahead is a giant question mark.
